Audrey Hepburn Birthday Postcards

For the past 2 years I have made Audrey Hepburn digital postcards to celebrate her birthday. This year I decided to do the same but I changed a minor detail, I didn’t include the age she would be if she was still with us today. The two previous ones did mention her age and therefore only made them applicable to that year. So, I went back and removed the age from the Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Paris When it Sizzles postcards allowing any bloggers to reblog the postcard that most appeals to them. You can repost all three if it suits you!  This year I made a postcard for The Nun’s Story!

Just in case here are the original two: Paris When it Sizzles and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

notquiteaudrey asked: Your blog is super inspiring! Do you prefer Audrey with long hair or a pixie cut?

Thank you!  I find Audrey’s fans to be inspirations and the driving force behind this blog.  I think that Audrey is striking with any hairstyle but I am a fan of the pixie cut.  There is a youthful elegance to a pixie cut and Audrey most certainly had the confidence to pull that look off. xo

Showcase Productions Inc. Letter re: Mayerling

Audrey Fans!

I have some exciting news to share with all of you regarding the release of Mayerling. Thanks to Audrey Hepburn Archive I was able to get in touch with Showcase Productions, Inc.. I’ve been in contact with Alex Kogan at Showcase who was the catalyst in mastering and restoring the film to it’s best quality. He has allowed me to share an email exchanged between the two of us regarding the distribution of Mayerling. I’m thrilled to be able to extend this information to my followers at Rare Audrey Hepburn and am grateful for the interest and devotion Showcase Productions Inc. and Films Around the World have shown Mayerling and the AH community.

Letter from Alex Kogan:

I remember the petition, but thought a guy posted it, not you [This is in reference to the original petition AHA made in 2011].  However, it doesn’t matter because the fact that there were that many people interested in MAYERLING helped us decide to gamble on mastering and restoring it, even though we didn’t have permission from the heirs or a means to distribute it.

All of that has changed now. First, Films Around the World is the parent of Showcase Productions, Inc., which was the original packager and copyright owner.  Second, we now have permission from Sean and Lucca, and from Mel Ferrer’s widow.  Third, we will be releasing it on a new silver and blue Mr. FAT-W Video label.  It will have it’s modern world premiere at the Audrey Hepburn retrospective in Munich; it will close the three-month long program on Saturday June 24 at 9:00 PM.  We hope to have the hard copy DVDs available through Amazon.com by the end of May, and through major DVD catalogs as well.  The MSRP will be $24.

We expect that it will be available for download rental ($2.99) and download purchase($22.99) on Amazon, and for streaming on AmazonPrime,in July.

Nothing above is private; feel free to pass the word to as many Hepburn fan sites as you know of, that MAYERLING is coming!!!

Regards,

Alex

Rare Audrey Hepburn’s 3 Year Anniversary and Gift Giveaway!
Today is Rare Audrey Hepburn’s 3 year Anniversary! I wanted to show my gratitude to the Audrey Hepburn fans that follow this blog by giving away 3 gifts to celebrate this momentous occasion   It was announced yesterday that Mayerling was finally to be released on DVD! I wanted to thank everyone who signed the petition, visited the youtube video, and helped in any way possible. It’s a great day for the Audrey Hepburn community!
This is how the gift giveaway will work:  I intend to send 3 lucky Rare Audrey Hepburn fans a $10 iTunes gift card which you can use to purchase music or movies (hopefully something Audrey related).  All you have to do is “like” this post and if you win, at a later date, I will send three random followers (you must be a RAH follower) iTunes gift cards!  Sounds easy enough.
Best of Luck!

Mayerling to get DVD release
From Films Around the World:Posted: April 29th, 2013
Films Around the World, Inc. is delighted to confirm that the Audrey Hepburn/Mel Ferrer MAYERLING will indeed be released on DVD in 2013. After several years of discussion, Audrey Hepburn’s sons, and Mel Ferrer’s widow, have authorized its distribution by us.
We have digitally remastered it from the original kinescope negative, and upgraded the new master using the latest enhancement software and expertise; it will be the first release on our new “Mr. FAR-W Video” silver and blue label, initially available through Amazon.com.
The first public exhibition since the original (and only) live television broadcast, in 1957, will be as the closing event at the Stadtmuseum Munchen/Filmmeuseum’s Audrey Hepburn Retrospective, at 9PM on June 24, 2013.
We mastered iMAYERLING in two versions — one with the original commercials, and one without them. Each version can either be played straight through, or by the four acts of the original broadcast. The masters have been delivered to both Amazon and the Stadtmuseum; check on our website or directly with Amazon for the availability of the DVDs.
